Last week I was privileged to chair a panel on the level 7 archivist and records managers apprenticeships at Archives & Records Association (UK & Ireland) conference in Birmingham.
Four of our first cohort of Westminster Adult Education Service apprentices, and one of our employers spoke about learning on the job, the first of their three years on the apprenticeship, and what it brings to their organisations The Box, Plymouth, Archives and Special Collections at Durham University, University of Greenwich and The London Archives.
We had lots of fantastic audience questions, and support for apprenticeships as a new route into the profession.
